This post is a pretty dumb white girl problem but I'm hoping someone will have a brilliant suggestion for me...
I wear pantyhose/tights at least 4 days a week. Oftentimes more than that because I wear them out with dresses/skirts on Friday and Saturday nights.
I have tons of them. Regular sheer/nude hose, opaque tights, patterned tights, etc. They are currently shoved in a drawer with my socks, and driving me crazy. If I want to wear a certain pair with a certain suit or outfit, I have to pull out every single one and dig through them. There has got to be a better way to store them.
I was thinking something like one of these belt/scarf hangers....
But I can see them slipping out and being even more of a mess. So maybe need something with clips?
My mom has one of these things for drying stuff that is hanging in the laundry, so maybe it could work for storage...
Problem of course with this is that I'd have to get two of them and I don't really have anywhere to put something that big. I don't have a laundry room and my closet is stuffed to the brim.
And I don't have the space for any sort of a drawer organizer.
Anyone have a solution that works for you?

This problem annoyed me too, I had it until I recently figured out a solution: http://www.lowes.com/pd_359783-32645-LW-100_0__?productId=3453772&Ntt=drawer+organizers&Ns=p_product_price|0&pl=1¤tURL=%2Fpl__0__s%3FNtt%3Ddrawer%2Borganizers%26Ns%3Dp_product_price%7C0&facetInfo=. I bought two of these. I store all my pantyhose and tights in them. Great, cheap purchase and easy to put together.
ReplyDeleteYou should probably just buy some drawers.
ReplyDeleteI loop mine through a regular hanger like how you would put a luggage tag on a suitcase. That way, they don't fall off or get tangled, plus I keep black on one hanger, navy on another- makes getting dressed easier so you don't have to spend time figuring out which pair is which color. here's a picture if what I just said doesn't make any sense: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5hYNcvzMzNA/Tniw42T7LoI/AAAAAAAAA7Y/U9rjQpk3Umw/s1600/closet6.jpg
ReplyDeleteI store mine in a hanging shoe bag. It hooks over the closet door easily and the hose/tights are stored in the pockets so they can't fall out. Plus, it's clear so you can easily see the color: http://tinyurl.com/hoseorg

ReplyDeleteI totally feel your pain on this! I couldn't find the exact storage piece that I bought, but I put two of something similar (but bigger) to this in a dresser drawer and I roll my tights. I try to put similar colors together, but I can see exactly what pair they are. Good luck!
how about something like this? http://www.wayfair.com/Household-Essentials-Storage-and-Organization-Clear-Vinyl-Stocking-Organizer-01917-9-HUU1139.html?refid=BSF49-HUU1139
ReplyDeleteDo you have any room for a flat compartment bin under your bed?
ReplyDeleteI use a hanging jewelry organizer. It has something like 60 pockets so it holds a ton. I just roll them up and slide them in each compartment. I have it hanging in the same direction as my clothes so it doesn't take up a ton of extra space.

I put mine in ziploc bags labeled if needed. That way I don't snag them on other things in the drawer. But, I like Bama Belle's suggestion.
ReplyDeleteI fold mine and put them in drawers according to color. Not suggesting that you should get a drawer organizer -- just that you could fold them, and put them in the drawer you already have. For me, this method works out great.
ReplyDeletei like the shoe organizer idea that LawFrog suggested. That's what I use.
ReplyDeleteditto on the clear shoe organizer. I put hats on the top pockets and clean stockings in the middle and bottom ones.
ReplyDeleteHi dear Legallyfabulous, I run into your blog when I typed failed bar exam again. Yesterday I wrote essay portion of MD bar and for sure I think I failed it agian. I was wondering, how did you get your tutor, and if they can be reached online? PLease let me know. you can reach me at, parianaz@hotmail.com.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Glad you shared your problem, because it's mine too :) off to browse the suggestions and see if anything shared might work for me.
ReplyDeleteHow about something like: :http://www.containerstore.com/shop/closet/jewelryStorage/hanging?productId=10030180
ReplyDeleteFor me, I have sock/bra dividers in my drawers. And I roll the stockings into a fluffy fold on top of each other based on color... I am not sure where I got the dividers from. :-/
A Preponderance of Fashion
I'm totally in the "ball it up and hope for the best in the morning" crowd. I think the scarf one would work best! Wouldn't the clips cause snags in the hose? My worst fear. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI also put mine in ziploc bags! I have an index card in the bag describing the tights (just something brief, nothing crazy) so I know which pair I'm grabbing!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why you called this a "white girl" problem. I came across your blog and was really interested in following it, until I saw this. I think it is pretty offensive. There are women of all races that have professional jobs, JDs, and who have to deal with large amounts of panty hose taking over their drawers. Maybe following this logic is what led to you failing the bar so many times...
ReplyDeleteYou have a long and hard life ahead of you if you're going to get offended by the term "white girl problem" and if you troll the internet looking for things to get butthurt and cry racist about.
