I can't believe it's November !
November goals:
- CrossFit 3x per week.
I went to CrossFit three times during the entire month of October (I feel so guilty even admitting this). It was a combination of being busy, being out of town, and being lazy, and now my clothes are all too tight and I feel like all my muscle has disappeared. And I really missed it! I forgot how much I enjoyed the workouts and all my CrossFit buddies.... Who were so happy to hear that I passed the bar exam!
Especially now that I have a car again, which means I can leave 10 minutes before I need to be there instead of 30 minutes before when I had to take the bus... There is no excuse not to go!
- Eat out less.
I spent WAY too much money this month on going out to eat. I am bringing my lunches to work way more often this month and ordering pizza and sushi way less. I've been making a serious effort to get my debts paid down (I cut up one of my credit cards at the end of September), and seeing how much money went to Subway/Cosi/McDonald's/Taco Bell that could have gone to paying that off makes me so mad. I'm going to shoot for only eating out twice a week at work and bringing lunch at least 3x per week.
- Eat more veggies.
I always say this. But for real. More veggies! Less crap!
- Be a better CASA
I volunteer as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), and I've been a crappy volunteer lately! This month I'm going to make a visit to the girls at their foster home at least once and attend family mediation at the end of the month. I haven't been to visit in a while because the foster home is wayyyy far on the south side and I had to borrow a car to get there... Problem solved! (noticing a theme?)
- Go to Mass!
I won't admit how many times I went in October in case my mom reads this, but let's just say I need to make it more of a priority this month. Especially now that I have a car again... No more excuses! (Can you tell that I blame stuff I don't want to do on not wanting to take the bus?) (also - I know a lot of people say you don't need a car in Chicago, but it sure makes life a whole lot easier if you have one)(Also - not sure about these new changes to the Mass going in to effect at the end of the month. Have a feeling it's going to be really hard to get people to change what they say!)
- Get Sworn In
Not really a "goal" because it's definitely happening, I just felt like mentioning it as something I'm excited about coming up this month. :)
- Write a blog post (or several) about bar exam stuff
I know I keep saying that I'm going to do this and I really will! I just don't usually put a lot of time in to what I'm blogging (yeah yeah yeah, I know that's probably really obvious since it's just always rambling stuff I type out on the bus), but I actually do have a lot to say and I'd like it be a coherent post that is actually helpful to people.
Okay - I'll revisit these goals at the end of the month and let you know how I did. Because you care.
I don't anticipate having too many problems, except for the eating out thing.... I just love crappy food. WHY IS FAST FOOD SO GOOD????
Great goals! I am looking forward to hearing your bar exam advice since I am taking it for the first time in February and am so nervous.
ReplyDeletePeople who say you don't need a car in Chicago are people that have never had one. I never realized how nice it was until I started borrowing one...and I got over taking bus/el all the time.
ReplyDeleteGood goals... :)
Good luck with all your goals and congrats on passing the bar!
ReplyDeleteI knew there was a reason I liked you. I'm a CASA here in Dallas as well. I was sworn in a year ago and have worked on two cases since. Love the fact that this volunteer opp allows me to really get involved. The situations these kids are in is sad, but I have hope for them. Glad to know you are a CASA!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to give up junk food/fast food too. WHY, WHY WHY? Ugh, I hate that I drive past all my fav haunts on the way to and from work. It's like they planned it that way!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea on the November goals. I posted some of my own!
ReplyDeleteWhile volunteering and eating well are well and good, I'm MOST excited for you about getting sworn in!!!!! YAYYYYY
