The hits just keep on coming.

I've thought about it a lot and decided to take the Texas Bar Exam in July.

Then I go to the website to register, and find out that the late filing deadline to register for the Texas Bar Exam in July was March 30th.

I am trying so hard not to absolutely lose my shit.

Normally I'd apologize for the constant pity parties, but I can't even muster up the energy for that anymore.
I am so tired.

  1. Oh my, I don't know what to say...God has a plan, I know He does. It's just really really crappy when you don't know what it is. I am praying for you, and sending you lots of good vibes!!! xoxox

  2. I'm so sorry. I know that there isn't much anyone can say to make it better but just know that so many people are behind you. Keep your head up!

  3. aawww....everything happens for a reason. During these hard times you may not be able to see that but everything will eventually fall into place. Is it possible to take the exam in another state maybe?

  5. Don't worry about the constant pity parties, if you can't throw yourself a pity party who will?!? No one, trust me i've waited on my fair share of pity parties just to realize i have to throw it myself. :)
I will always show up for your parties via the web not in some creepy stalker loitering outside your apartment way.

  6. I think they make exceptions! Call the office and explain your circumstances. (PS Texas registration is SO EARLY! I had to pay a late fee).

  8. UGH. I really truly do believe that everything happens for a reason, even if that reason isn't clear for weeks, months, years. I know it's hugely frustrating because you are trying to forge ahead, but maybe this is just a sign that Texas isn't where you are supposed to be and there's a reason you need to stay in Chicago. I hope you get some good news soon.

  9. That is insane. Is it worth calling to see if you can register even later? Ugh. This is crazy. Pity party all you want.

  10. I would argue this section of Rule IX should apply to your circumstances, ie by extending the same logic to failing out of state: (f) The filing deadlines and applicability of the late fees set out in subsection (a) of this rule shall not apply to Re-Applicants who failed the immediately preceding Texas Bar Examination and therefore could not have met the subsection (a) deadlines. Any such Re-Applicant may take the next examination given upon filing a Re-application and paying the required fees by:

November 30, for the February Examination; or
May 30, for the July Examination.

  12. That is so dumb considering NO states' Feb bar results come out until after April. They obviously intend to not let you re-take until the following February :( Does that mnean you're stuck with IL? There's still time for the late late deadline for IL! (which you probably already know).

  13. I'm with Leslie - I think it is completely worth calling to speak to someone and to argue that you couldn't have met the deadline. In fact, if you don't report back that you called them, I'm going to call them.

called them. Now calling you. Answer your bloody phone.

  14. Wow, I just want to give you a hug. Let me know if you need some Great Dane love....Octavia is my best cure when I'm down in the dumps. With Elle being 1000 miles away, I just thought I'd offer. ;) I hope that you are able to convince the TX bar examiners to let you take it. What about the people who fail the TX bar; those results haven't come out yet, right?

  15. I'd definitely call the Texas BLE. The people who work there have all been very helpful to me anytime I've called. Their number is: 512-463-1621. I'm nearly certain they'll allow you to apply based on the circumstances.

    Best of luck!

  16. I spoke with Allison Drish, Assistant Director Texas Board of Law Examiners at 512-463-5411.

Here's the thing. You can still apply. Fill out the general application *and* fill out the "waiver form" found here:

    http://www.ble.state.tx.us/Forms/waiver.htm

You do that ASAP - On May 6th, they send out the bar results from the Feb Texas Bar - at that time, they'll also evaluate your waiver, etc.

I also told her that I might be the very first of a very long line of people calling.

You go take that bar exam, Zilla. I don't want to have to go kick Texas in the ass.

Okay, I just lied - God, I'd just love an excuse to kick Texas in the ass but I'd rather you take the bar exam.

    Sincerely,
    -RandomEsq

  18. I'm just catching up and wanted to say I am so, so sorry girl. I know you studied your ass off for this and it's obvious how bad you want it.

Now? go take the Texas bar. And rock it. I am loving that Leslie and RE have found out info for you to go take this. Take your fabulous big hair and red lips back down South and kick that bar's ass. You can totally do it.
