For a lot of 24-year-old single girls, New Year's Eve is about a couple things. Mainly:

If you haven't figured it out yet, yes, I'll be babysitting this evening. I babysit pretty much every New Years Eve.
This will probably come as a surprise to a lot of you, but I HATE holidays like New Years Eve and St. Patrick's Day. These are when all the idiots who never drink or party come crawling out of their lame holes and flood the bars that I like to be overserved in on random Tuesday nights. Nooooo Thank You.
It's also really expensive to go out on NYE. And I would rather spend my money on more important things like $600 pairs of shoes. Duh.
Last year I babysat for my neighbors across the street. I will be babysitting for them again this year, as well as their friends who are the same age. Four children from two families = 2x the money! Whooohoo!
Here are some pics from our ROCKIN' New Years Eve last year!
The evening started in matching sweaters and turtlenecks, sans pants. As do most evenings in the lives of Daniel and Stephen:
They then switched to their matching jammies, as they always do. Add in party hats, leis, and blowers, and you've got a PARTY!
Of course the boys split some fizzy apple juice while we rang in the east coast New Years with Dick Clark at 11PM.
One of my good friends actually babysat with me last year... We brought a couple of single serving Champagne bottles for us to drink while the boys had their sparkling juice (no worries, dear readers... the parents don't care and we only had to walk across the street to return home at the end of the evening).
It was a lovely way to ring in 2009 and I'm looking forward to doing it again tonight!
Hope everyone has a wonderful and SAFE New Years Eve!
XOXO

I agree on all counts! Never been big on going out for NYE. Plus it's just too dang cold to be parading around in a dress in December/January.
ReplyDeleteYay for making money, have a great night!
Love your blog and am so jealous that you are graduating next semester. I am a JD/MPH and will be graduating in two years...seems so far away. Enjoy hanging out with the kiddies! I'll probably be asleep before midnight ha!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Years girlie! :) Cheers to making some cash on NYE instead of dropping some! :)
